New Orleans clinic hosts health screening, COVID-19 vaccine drive

A New Orleans primary care physician is hosting a health screening fair to bring awareness to preventative measures to mitigate Heart Disease.Dr. Courtney Washington, owner of Fleur-De-Lis Primary Care Clinic, spoke during WDSU News at Noon about the screening and what the community van expect.”Heart Disease is the leading cause of death in Louisiana and the U.S. Blood pressure and diabetes control, as well as maintaining a healthy weight are the top three modifiable risk factors known to decrease the risk of developing heart disease. Let’s start 2022 off by taking steps to improve our health,” says Washington.The health screening is Saturday, Jan. 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 1615 Poydras St.,Suite 1255 in New Orleans. It’s free to everyone. Washington says she will offer hypertension and diabetes screening, as well as fitness consultations by Drive Sports Performance.Also, due to the rising COVID-19 numbers, Washington plans to administer free vaccines.Then, on January 22 from 10 a.m. to noon, Washington is hosting a group walk around Audubon Park to highlight the importance of exercising, which also decreases the risk of heart disease.Click here to learn more about Fleur-De-Lis Primary Care Clinic.
